On October 15, 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akuapim South, Hon. Paul Osae Offei, visited the community of Mentukwa to officiate a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound. This initiative aims to bridge healthcare gaps within the municipality and bring essential health services closer to residents.
The Municipal Engineer, Mr. Frank Ntiamoah, briefed the gathering on the key structural components of the upcoming facility. He encouraged community members to collaborate fully with the contractors by providing local materials and support to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
The Director of Nursing Services for Akuapim South expressed her appreciation to the Municipal Assembly for prioritizing the community’s health needs. She underscored the importance of local participation—particularly in providing accommodation for health staff—to facilitate efficient service delivery. She also urged the contractors to adhere strictly to the project’s timeline and specifications.
In his address, Hon. Osae Offei assured residents that the CHPS compound would be completed on schedule and designed to accommodate two health staff. He further announced plans to reshape local roads and appealed to the community to assist in sourcing gravel for the work. The MCE also shared updates on ongoing efforts to connect Mentukwa to the national electricity grid under the China Water and Power Project.
The Chief of Mentukwa, Nana Agyei Kwafo Sikapa, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MCE for his visionary and development-oriented leadership. He later led the delegation to the project site, where he officially handed over the land to the contractors to begin work.
As a gesture of appreciation, the residents of Mentukwa presented farm produce to the Honourable MCE, acknowledging his dedication to improving the welfare and development of their community.
